| Medici Chapel |

Sunday, July 17
Pretty slow day today. I think everybody staying here (eight rooms) came down to breakfast at the same time - the end of breakfast. We poked around and finially called a cab to take us into town. Just on a whim we picked San Lorenzo Piazza since we hadn't been there yet.
We landed in the middle of a large market with a variety of stuff for us to spend our money on, but leather predominated--jackets, belts, purses, shoes. It was a little warm for jackets, but some of them were very tempting looking. ((Zip out leather hood and lining sounds like Chicago gear,) We were able to find a few places to spend our money. The tents are packed so tightly in the square that you can't see the plaza.
Then, around the corner was the Medici chapel. They are in the midst of doing some work on it. It isn't one of the big splashy places, but it was interesting. And if you are into reliqueries, they had some interesting ones, although I'm a little suspecious of some of those enclosed bones.
Had salad and pizza (wood-fire oven) for lunch, and then stopped and had gelato as we searched for a taxi. Note that the balsamic came from Modena. Never too far from home. :) The bars and resturants also have tents in the street. Most traffic is restricted.
Packing up for our trip Monday to Milan. It's getting harder and harder to cram stuff back into our suitcases.

I was on vacation for 2 weeks, and just had a chance to look at your blog. What a wonderful trip.
