Today was wash day, so we gathered up our dirty duds and tried to fill out the laundry list. Luckliy we were back in the room this afternoon when the laundry called to say our totals didn't match what They counted. Our bad. But when we got back from supper tonight there was all our laundry, washed, dried, and neatly pressed (including the socks). I could easily live like this.

We strolled along to Santa Croce Square--and stopped for gelato (a 3) and then around the to the National Library. After taking pictures of the exterior we thought we would pay a professional librarians' visit. Not a good career move. We got tossed out on our ears. It seems the library is not open to the public We were informed there were libraries in town that MIGHT welcome us, but this wasn't one of them. He even shook his finger in Mary's face when she tried to take an interior photo.

It seems insane to let two old ladies dash around a strange city on their own in such heat. So we wandered along the Arno River until we came to a shady park. We sat and watched--toddlers playing and people walking and biking with their dogs.
Tonight' s supper was at Il Barrino Trattoria. We have no pictures of the food as we left our cameras at the hotel so we would be mistaken for Italians. We started with sheep cheese with pears and walnuts, followed by a primo of risotto with wild asperagus and the secondo of zucchini parmagiana. We finished with chocolate cake on a decorative sea of chocolate and vanilla sauces. But I only ate one piece of bread.
They tossed you out of a library??!!! And wagged a finger at Miss Mary? The nerve. And then allowed you both to wander the streets? Goodness what other trouble you can get into.
ReplyDeleteYou think leaving your camera behind makes you blend in? Maybe you should have tried that at the library.
