TRAINS AND BOATS AND PLANES

Yesterday I woke too early, did 5K of laps, went back to bed, woke again before 6AM and got ready for the end phase of my part of the Great Italian Adventure.

The night before, Ernesto told the eleven people headed for the airport that he had arranged for us to leave the ship at 7:30 so we could all get to the airport in plenty of time. This morning we found that although we would be leaving the ship at 7:30 as planned, only eight of us airport-bound folk would fit on a mini-van. Three of us with later flight times were to wait until the others disembarked, grab enough people to fill the mini-van and be off to the airport. We three would get off, the others would go to the Navona Hotel for their Rome tour. When the others started coming off the ship, the driver said that we would have to get not just any five of our group, but the four people heading for the Roma Termini train station and a random Navona-bound person to fill the last seat.
three to the airport, prego
We made it to the airport in plenty of time to get on the 11:45 flight to Detroit. The flight was smooth and although the weather was fine in Detroit, we were delayed in landing by about fifteen minutes. The other two who were on the Detroit flight may have missed their connecting flight by minutes. I'm hoping not, though. Micki was one whose luggage didn't appear in Rome until we boarded the ship.
350 people vs 35 seats in waiting room
I sent a message to Cybil when we landed in Detroit, and again when we landed in KC. She and Ryan picked me up and brought me to Jo's, where I will spend a couple nights to catch myself up to Central Daylight Time.
